Story
On 15 September 2023, I am delighted to be leading a 15 strong team from the UK Food and Farming Industry on the Mahale Mountains challenge in western Tanzania to raise much needed funds for the Farm Africa 'Food for Good Campaign'. Covering a distance of some 80 km in 5 days, across harsh little explored terrain, the team will have to deal with the heat, dust and distance.
Over the last 12 years the Food for Good' Campaign has raised over £1m. to support Farm Africa projects across Eastern Africa. A number of the projects have resulted in the development of export markets for Farmers and Growers in the region. I have had the privilege of being a team member on three previous expeditions, and have been able to see first hand the brilliant work the Farm Africa project teams do on the ground.
Farm Africa reduces poverty in eastern Africa by helping farmers grow more, sell more and sell for more. Working in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, Farm Africa is growing agriculture, protecting the environment and developing businesses in rural areas.
Here's how your donation could help:£100 - could help one farming family establish a home garden to ensure food security and nutritious vegetables.£500 - could help 17 farmers tap into the potential of drought-resistant crops and protect their family against drought.£1,000 - could provide a training centre for 31 farmers with climate-smart agriculture skills to build resilient and sustainable livelihoods.£2,000 - could help 51 farmers to develop their financial management skills, so they can build stronger, more robust businesses.
These are tough times and there are all sorts of financial pressures everybody has to deal with. Any support you can give to this wonderful charity and the amazing work they achieve is appreciated. Thank you for your support!
