Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Some 8,000 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer each year in the UK. It has the worst survival rates of any cancer - three per cent – a figure that has not improved in forty years. Despite being the fifth most common cause of cancer death in the UK, pancreatic cancer receives less than two per cent of overall research funding.
On the 18th November 2008 a huge hole was left in the lives of my family and friends with the loss of my mother to this dreadful illness. As anyone who has lost a loved one will know, over time the tears may become less frequent but the hurt never leaves you. I have found solace in my running and a year after my mother's death (many of you will remember) I ran my first marathon, in New York, to raise money for Help the Hospices. Now I want to try and help towards the continued research into pancreatic cancer. So, on 22nd April 2012 I intend to run my second marathon.....
I appreciate times are hard at the moment but this is when charities sometimes need our help the most. Any amount you can spare will be gratefully received.
