Story
Alzheimer's has recently become part of my family's life since my mother was diagnosed in October 2018. Since April 2019, she now permanently resides in a care home. She is unable to cook or wash herself, can no longer go out alone, and has lost the ability to articulate her thoughts. She is also a coeliac, which further requires 24/7 assistance from others. She misses her home and the outdoors terribly. She receives wonderful care, but no NHS funding, despite her illness. This is because dementia is classed as a 'social' problem and not as a health condition. I am running to raise awareness of this injustice as well as to raise funds for the charity.
