Story

If you're here to sponsor me on the 2010 Slimathon, please to go my new page:

www.justgiving.com/JuliaGale2

See you there!

A little clarification.  The amount raised so far (above) is made up of donations online plus donations and pledges offline.  The offline donations include the amount of Gift Aid being reclaimed.  The amount online doesn't include the Gift Aid - confused yet?  You need to go to the bottom of the page and add up all the amounts to see where we've got to so far!  On 21 April it was £1,001.46, including Gift Aid.

Another update for you!  I've just heard that  I ( ... and that means you) have raised the most money during Slimming World's 2009 Slimathon on a national basis!  A huge thank you to all my sponsors past, present and future.  If you think you've missed the boat, it's still not too late to donate to the wonderful NSPCC's "Child's Voice Appeal".

Greetings!

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.  I've never done this before so I hope I make sense (probably for the first time in my life).

Many of you will already know that, after my great endeavours a few years back, I lost the plot.  After a day on the cardiology ward in April, a few scary blood pressure readings and a 'shock and awe' talk from the doctor, I decided the time had come to sort myself out.  So, back at the beginning of October, I joined Slimming World plus the gym near work as well as the one near home.  I'm feeling loads better and have already lost over 2 stone.   3 st 9.5 lbs (23.5 kg) now!  Ok, so some of you haven't seen me of late and think I'm gorgeous as I am.  How wrong can you be?!  This photo with Ma in September 2007 is a flattering one to put it lightly.

So, our lovely group leader, Denise, told me that there is an annual event where Slimming World members undertake a sponsored slim for six weeks with this year's donations going to the NSPCC.  For my friends abroad, this stands for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.  I decided that, if I joined the slimathon, it would not only help the NSPCC but also encourage me to keep on the straight and narrow.  So, I've signed up from 30 December 2008 to 9 February 2008.

I'm not hoping for miracles in 6 weeks.  If I lose 10lbs it'll be great and anything over this would be brilliant.  14lbs and I'll call the press.  I take that back!  I've lost 14½lbs and don't think the press would be interested ... unless you know a journalist!  I don't want to bankrupt you though, so feel free to give as little or as much as you like.

If you're confused or you'd like more information, just drop me a line or give me a call.  I'll update the page once the slimathon is over to let you know how I got on.

Julia

Week 1 = 3½ lbs      Week 2 = 1 lb     Week 3 = 2 lbs

Week 4 = 3½ lbs      Week 5 = 1 lb      Week 6 = 3½ lbs

Total to-date = 14.5 lbs

Small print: donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: NSPCC gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
