Story
Last year was difficult, especially for older people, and their struggle is not over. I would like you to join me in raising awareness and supporting the wonderful charity, ‘Age UK’. They provide an advice line open 365 days a year and a telephone friendship service. They even conduct their own research and launch campaigns that tackle key issues for older people, giving them a voice in society. All with the aim of improving older people’s lives!
My mission is to complete Age UK's 'Run Your Age’ fundraiser to raise vital support because today, more than ever, our elderly population needs us and if Covid has taught us anything, it is that we work better together. To make it more challenging, I have decided that instead of running my age of 23 years old, I will run the age of my oldest client, who I visit as a carer and yes, she is 100 years old! Good luck to my running shoes!
So, from Monday 11th January, for the next 28 days, I will be running a total of 100km for Age UK. I want to spotlight a new future, where we begin to embrace loving later life and we help those who are living it, love it too. And it is you who can, from as little as a price of coffee, support not just a run but the beginning of a more hopeful future for us all.
Thank you and Happy New Year x
