Story

Update: We are absolutely thrilled to have reached our target already!  However, rather than revising  our orignal target we are aiming to increase the % shown on our page, and  hope that by your continuing support and contributions we will be able to do this.

We are doing a sponsored marathon on 19th June in Cheltenham to raise money for the Royal Marines Benevolent Fund (RMBF).

We chose this charity because Julia's fiance is currently serving in Afghanistan with 42 Commando Royal Marines.

The RMBF provides advice and support for Royal Marines and their dependants, irrespective of rank. Should a RM or reservist be killed while on active service the RMBF immediately releases a sum of money to help the next of kin cope with any pressing financial matters.

This is a relatively small charity that helps a lot of people, so it really needs all the support possible.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

We are training really hard now that we have finished our exams - so please dig deep and donate now.

About the charity

The RMBF was formed to relieve need, distress or hardship suffered by any person who is serving, has served or is a dependant of a Royal Marine, irrespective of rank. It also provides immediately on the death of either a serving RM or a reservist on duty a sum of money for the next of kin to help them cope with any pressing financial matters.
