When I was 11 years old my dad died just a month after I got home from my favorite place in the world, camp. I am so fortunate to have spent so many summers as a camper and counselor at camp. It was at camp that I learned how to be my truest, best self. At experience camps children who have suffered profound loss are given the chance to do that while being with other kids who “get it”.
Our newest addition to the ExCamps family, the MidWest launched with rave reviews this summer. 60 campers from around the country were welcomed into the warm embrace of camp, and the first of many years of memories were made. For 6 weeks, we will embrace the spirit of competition as the camper, volunteers, and friends of each camp compete against their extended camp family to see who will emerge as the winner in the Battle of the Camps.
