We have created this page to raise awareness of the JDRF and the work they do in trying to find a cure for Type 1 Diabetes in children.

Our son Joshua was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when he was just 5yrs old. When we were told it was a massive shock and we blamed ourselves, I blamed myself as i had been diabetic whilst expecting Joshua. The hospital staff were fantastic and told us that it wasn't our fault and it was just one of those unfortunate things that just happen. They then put us in touch with the JDRF who were able to help us get in touch with other families that had been through what we were going through. They ensured us that there was a light at the end of the tunnel and also that Joshua would be able to have a normal life even with Diabetes.

At first Joshua found it hard to adapt to having to have 4 insulin injections a day, but you show me any 5yr old that wants to have a needle stuck in them 4 times a day. He also struggled to understand why he wasn't allowed to eat sweets whenever he wanted, his life and our family life was turned upside down in the space of a week. Fortunately even though we have had our ups and downs with Joshua and his Diabetes we have been able to ensure that Joshua has had a normal life despite it.

THIS IS THE PART WHERE YOU COME IN.

We are asking you to sponser us in the Walk to cure Diabetes on 26th September at Paultons Park. Any donations no matter how big or small are welcome, and together we will find a cure.
