Story
Please sponsor me as I cycle 7 ½ miles a day, every day for ten days, on my boneshaker of a bike to raise money for BEAT, the UK’s Eating Disorder charity. I plan to start on 26 February and finish on 7 March which is the final day of Eating Disorder Awareness Week this year.
Eating Disorders are not about food, but a way of coping when life is spiralling out of control. Of all mental illnesses, Anorexia Nervosa has
the highest mortality rate with 10% of all sufferers losing their life to this cruel disease; yet only 96p is invested in research for every person affected with an eating disorder compared, for example, with £228 per cancer patient. BEAT offers support via a helpline that is open seven days a week, every day of the year, as well as campaigning for help
and treatment for all those with an eating disorder and running support groups for those who are suffering and for their loved ones too.
This is a charity that is very close to my heart; I have set myself an ambitious target of raising £1,000! Please give generously and help me to help others.
Thank you, Julia x
PS - Your response has been so amazing that I have set a new target of an incredible £4,000 - my challenge starts tomorrow for ten days so please watch out for updates and how my target is progressing.
