Story
Climate change is making life even harder for people already struggling to get clean water. A staggering 90% of all natural disasters are water-related, and they're massively impacting people's lives.
1 in 10 people worldwide don't have clean water close to home, and climate change is making their situation worse. Every day, already fragile water supplies are at even greater risk of disappearing completely.
Without clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene, communities are more at risk of catching waterborne diseases like cholera, which claims 120,000 lives every year. It’s easy to take a simple toilet for granted but imagine if you didn't have one at home or at school, or even in hospital. What would you do?
Together with clean water and good hygiene, toilets keep people safe and healthy. Every £1 invested in water and toilets returns an average of £4 in increased economic productivity.
WaterAid works with local people to design services that are long lasting, helps groups that are often excluded claim their rights to decent toilets and persuades governments and decision makers that building and maintaining toilets is a great investment! Not only because they're a human right but because they make a huge difference to people's prospects.
Donate to raise £250 which could provide 7 handwashing stations for schools or cover the cost of installing 2 new wells.
