Story
In August 2015 we had heartbreaking news that my mother Caryl had stage 4 ovarian cancer and that her care would be palliative not curative. This has been so difficult to come to terms with but 17 months on after chemotherapy and surgery and her ongoing drug avastin my mother continues to fight with admirable strength, positivity & determination. At the early stages of her diagnosis and whilst in hospital my mum met a lovely lady called Debra who had also been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. They struck up a wonderful friendship and have supported one another through their treatment. I then discovered that my friends mum Linda had also been diagnosed at the same time as my mum and myself and my friend Charlotte were also able to offer one another invaluable support in coping with our mothers diagnosis. Ironically my mother was then to be reunited with an old friend during an ovarian cancer support group. Elaine who had once been a very close friend of my mums in younger days had also been diagnosed with ovarian cancer. They were delighted to be reunited but unfortunately not under happy circumstances. Sadly in November of last year both Debra and Linda lost their lives to this dreadful disease. My mum Caryl and her friend Elaine continue to fight with wonderful attitudes. I would like to walk in memory of two very beautiful ladies Debra and Linda and in support of my wonderful mother Caryl and her dear friend Elaine to raise money for a charity affecting so many and too many women.
