Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit the Dance For Japan JustGiving page.
Like everyone who woke up on Friday 11th March to the news of the devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami in Japan, I was dumbstruck, seeing all the destruction and loss. I hurried off to ballet class, worrying about my Japanese friends and their families, and I was desperate to find a way to help.
With this in mind, I am organising 'Dance For Japan,' 12 hours of dance classes, workshops and performances, with all proceeds going to the Red Cross, for the relief effort in Japan. The event will be held at Central School of Ballet on 28th May, from 10am til 10pm. There will be performances from top dancers, world class teachers, guest companies and suprises on the day. Timetable is online at http://juliadavies86.wordpress.com/2011/04/18/timetable/
For a registration fee of just £15, you are welcome to take part in as many classes/workshops as you like, and see top quality performances too. There will be ballet, jazz, salsa, contemporary, street dance and workshops with several top companies. The idea is that particpants can then seek sponsorship, per class that that they dance.Let's have some fun, raise money for relief, and honour our wonderful Japanese artists.
To register, please donate £15 to the Red Cross, and specify in your donation message that you are registering to attend - I will be in touch with further details of the day, sponsor forms, timetables - everything you need to know!
All teachers and performers are giving their time for free and the money given goes straight to the red cross relief effort .. the earlier you donate .. the more immediate your benefit will be felt by those in Japan. For those who are unable to attend or just want to show their support we would also welcome donations.
To sponsor someone participating, simply include their name in your donation message.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now. Let's get dancing for Japan!
