BUPA Great North Run 2013 · 15 September 2013 ·
In May 2012 my beautiful, sporty, healthy 11 year old niece Alicia was diagnosed with leukaemia AML. This was the same type of cancer that Josie battled. Ali started immediate aggressive chemotherapy and in October 2012 was given a stem cell transplant. As one of Ali's carers in the RVI I have seen the physical and emotional pain that she has endured and many other children like Ali in the children's cancer wards. Their strength and bravery is such an inspiration.
I am running the Great North run this year along with 4 other Partners from Waitrose in Hexham in support of Josie's Dragonfly our chosen charity of the year. Josie's Dragonfly was set up by a truly inspirational young lady Josie who lost her battle with cancer and wanted to help other children and families facing similar situations to herself.
For me every step of the run will be in honour of all those brave, strong children who continue to battle cancer and to all those who have lost their battle to the disease.
Josie's Dragonfly gives cash gifts of £500 to children when their cancer is no longer curative, so your donation will go immediately to children to spend in their final days.
Donation through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate the money is sent immediately to the charity. So please donate a little to help these amazing children. Thank you.
