Fundraising for Multiple Sclerosis Society
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page - One Step Closer.
On 17th July I will be taking part in the Yorkshire Ultra Challenge, a 100 km day & night non-stop walk with my good friend Beverley Owens.
Beverley is raising money for Cancer Research.
I am raising money for a charity very close to my heart - the MS Society - who are working hard to combat this indiscriminate disease for which there is currently no cure. I have seen first hand how Multiple Sclerosis robs people of their ability to enjoy everyday activities we all take for granted. The pleasure of taking a walk, for instance, or the just the convenience of popping to the corner shop for a pint of milk.
Thankfully I can - but my lovely sister Bev who is just 46, can’t. MS struck over 15 years ago and now has confined her to a wheel chair - she no longer has the ability to enjoy even a simple stroll.
Every penny raised, brings us ONE STEP CLOSER to understanding more about Multiple Sclerosis and how it affects the brain, which in turn affects the body & the ability to do the simplest of things like move our arms & legs.
Enjoying a walk is a gift perhaps most able bodied don’t truly appreciate. My sister would love just to be able to stand up independently. By walking 100km night & day I hope that one day there will be a cure to eradicate this most brutal of health conditions. But it needs more research & support, that’s why I am raising money for the MS society.
Please assist if you can, any donation no matter how large or small will help. MS can strike anyone at anytime, my sister was a perfectly healthy, sporty young woman for the first three decades of her life. There is no rhyme or reason to why she became a victim - MS doesn’t discriminate.
