Story
A team of fabulous family and friends supporting Blood Cancer UK and for everyone diagnosed with a blood cancer. We are walking to raise awareness of blood cancer, its symptoms and treatment and to support anyone who has currently been given a blood cancer diagnosis or those who weren’t so lucky to achieve long-term remission.
This is Julie’s story:
This is for everyone who has or is undergoing treatment for a blood cancer. I was diagnosed with AML in 2016 and after three relapses and two bone marrow transplants I am still undergoing active treatment to try and establish remission. Huge love and respect to all the Haematology Oncology team at Addenbrookes and Guy’s Hospital, without them I would not be here. This is also for the amazing friends I have met along the way who have benefited from treatment. A big shout out to all of my family and friends who support me; without them I couldn’t do this. I would also like to walk and light a lantern in memory of beautiful Ellie and her lovely family, I didn’t know her for long but I feel so grateful to have met her; she was such a strong, inspirational young lady who fought so hard but unfortunately died far too young. I will try and raise as much money as possible whilst I still can to support the vital research that will hopefully lead to new and more targeted therapies and to ultimately improve outcomes for everyone diagnosed with a blood cancer.
