I am going to swim the Solent on July 31st in aid of the Isle of Wight Samaritans. The distance is a mile and a quarter and the tides are strong, so we are setting out from Hurst Castle on the mainland at 6.15am, the optimum moment, and hope to get to Colwell Bay on the Island about an hour later. The Freshwater Lifeboat, kayaks and rigid inflatable boats will accompany us and Sandy and a hot breakfast will be waiting. I've been doing the distance in the swimming pool, and have started going in at the bay, which is warming up.
Isle of Wight Samaritans desperately needs funds as we have just moved into new accommodation and the running costs are high. The Swim is our major fund raising event of the year. Last year we had 16 swimmers and raised £11,500. This year we hope to have even more swimmers and raise even more, so please help.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Samaritans Of Isle Of Wight gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
