Story

I am excited to be donning my goggles and parachute for Maggie's Cardiff this July! My father and sister passed away before Maggie's support services were available in Cardiff, and we all would have benefited from their help at that difficult time. The brilliant support they provide to people affected by Cancer is vital, and they now work with other of my friends and family whose lives are affected by the disease. I am passionate about raising funds to support Maggie's work and ensuring that those who need their help are able to continue to access it.

Thanks for your support, Jude xx

Maggie’s provides unique support to people with cancer and their family and friends. Maggie was a young mother who lived with advanced cancer for two years. With her husband and medical team, she created a blueprint for a new type of cancer care, focused on the holistic needs of those with cancer. Her belief was, to aid your body through treatment, you needed stress-reducing strategies, psychological support, and the opportunity to meet other people in similar circumstances. Maggie’s runs an evidence-based programme of psychological, social, and practical support for people with cancer and their families.  Their programme is provided free, for anyone with cancer, at any stage, alongside their family and friends, for as long as they need support.

They focus on the things that can really make a difference, such as money worries, help with stress and depression, managing side-effects; relationship and family support and bereavement support. Their centres are created to be warm and welcoming spaces, far from the clinical environment of the hospital.
