Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
At the end of October I will be heading off to Borneo with a group of young lawyers for 16 days to take part in a community outreach project.
We will be heading out to a village in rural Borneo and building them a gravity water feed system. This is for a community that has never had clean running water before. I will keep you posted as I get further details in, but we do know that conditions will be basic and we will be spending a lot of time getting to know the local people and their way of life and, when we are not building pipelines, building relationships, particularly with the children.
After this, we will lead a workshop for the Sabah Law Association junior lawyers on the Rule of Law and Legal Ethics, and hopefully forge some lasting relationships with Malaysian young lawyers and find out from them the challenges they face in a jurisdiction where human rights can sometimes be difficult to uphold.
This is a new project which, if successful, will hopefully result in many more like this so that young lawyers in the UK can participate in global public service projects.
All money raised goes to Raleigh to pay for the running of the project, including all building materials. Raleigh also puts aside a proportion of the money raised to help disadvantaged children in the UK by giving them the opportunity to go on development projects which help get them off the streets and into real jobs or education. It really is a great cause that will help change lives.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Raleigh International gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
