Story
This Saturday 10 April, Kezia (in the backpack) and I are joining Wellington Samaritans in their 'Walk With Me' event, which is a fun walk/ run to raise funds for and awareness of their telephone helpline for folks in distress. Theirs is a cause that resonates with me and others, and their work saves lives. The event is a way for the Samaritans to raise the vital donations they need to operate. Wellington Samaritans receive no government funding; instead, they rely solely on grants, donations and events like Walk With Me to operate. The Samaritans receive over 20,000 calls per year and their incredible volunteers work day and night, 365 days per year. Tragically, in 2019/20, 41 people from within the Wellington region died by suicide. Every dollar raised helps the Samaritans continue to provide their life-changing and life-saving helpline free of charge to those who need it.
