Story
In February 2017, I underwent my fifth orthopaedic operation in just over a year at Bristol Royal Infirmary's limb reconstruction unit.
To correct the alignment of my right knee and ankle, the surgeons broke and re-adjusted my right leg four times in roughly 13 months,, aided by an ten-inch titanium plate and a particularly unpleasant contraption called a Taylor Spatial Frame.
After looking back to the hellish year spent battling surgery, post-operative depression, militant physios, MRSA, career upheaval, and an an inflexible knee full of scar tissue, I decided that I wanted something good to come from it.
So I'm realising a lifetime ambition to cycle across the United States, and I'm hoping to raise some money for UNICEF in the process. It's a fantastic charity that works tirelessly to help the world's most vulnerable children. Unlike many charities, it uses its money effectively and transparently to make a tangible positive impact on the world. If you're looking to make sure that your donation goes a long way to helping some of the world's most vulnerable people, there's few better charities to support.
All money raised goes directly to UNICEF.
