Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On the 15th September 2013 we are running the Bristol Half Marathon (yes, all 13.1 miles of it) in memory of James Roberts. Sadly we lost James on the 18 November 2012 in a tragic car accident. We are running the Bristol half Marathon- both in memory of James and to continue his yearly fundraisers to raise money for charity.
James was a great friend and a loving fiancée to Vicky. He was the most inspirational person and raised a huge amount of money for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance through the famous ‘barn dance’ held at their yard in Easterton.
We have two chosen charities. Firstly is Wiltshire Air Ambulance this is one that James felt very passionate about. Wiltshire Air Ambulance is an air ambulance and police helicopter which responds to seriously ill or injured casualties and police incidents across rural Wiltshire. Wiltshire Air Ambulance relies entirely on the support of people like you and we have to raise £2.5m a year to cover the running costs. That’s £6,850 a day. It’s not government funding that keeps it running – it’s donations and fundraising.
Secondly, is Road Peace- A road death is not like a normal death. It is a violent death –totally unexpected. Road Peace has the dual purpose of providing support to the bereaved and campaigning for justice. They have been a great support in helping Vicky at times when we lack understanding of what she’s going through. Road Peace is an independent, membership charity that receives no statutory funding, therefore relies on supporters and fundraisers.
Our team name is ‘The Disciples’- if you take a look here you will see a link to Vicky Craig’s profile. Please have a read as she explains (a lot better than me) about the chosen charities.
As none of us are particularly keen/ good runners we need all the support we can get- so please dig deep and donate!
James once said to me “If you haven’t got passion then you won’t get anywhere!” So come on guys have some passion and let’s RUN..!!!
