A year ago, when recording our Long Live Rock 'N' Roll Podcast Christmas Special episode, I commented on how easy Christmas songs were and how I disliked most of them.
My co-host, Felipe, challenged me and said, "Well, go and write your own Christmas song" - I then promised the listeners that I would... and I have!
I've written a Christmas song called 'The Joy Of Christmas Day' and, initially, it was going just to be put at the end of our Christmas episode this year, but I thought, why not try and do some good with it!
It's a lovely, simple Christmas song with piano and my vocals (I'm no singer, but it does sound okay, haha!) about the joys of Christmas day!
I'm asking for £2 for the song - all of the money will go towards the Homeless Christmas Dinner 2022 by Midland Langar Seva Society who do work for the hungry and homeless during Christmas time.
Feel free to donate more if you'd like or if you can't afford the £2 (times are very tough at the moment) then just do what you can - buy some cheap food next time you're shopping and donate it to to the local foodbank or something.
Below are the links to the song - both available to listen to in Soundcloud & YouTube and to download and keep from the Google Drive. I'm relying on people's honesty to make the donation before downloading/listening to the song, but ultimately it is free to all!
Many thanks in advance for any donations and hope you have a wonderful Christmas!
SONG LYRICS:
Verse 1:
In hardships felt by one and all,
we've made it through the year.
And no achievement is too small,
for us to spread some cheer.
The turkey's in, the spuds are on,
we sit and sing away.
Carols, hymns and Christmas songs,
on our most treasured day.
Pre-chorus:
He comes down the chimney
in a red and white coat.
With all the presents he'll bring me,
it's Christmas day I love most.
Chorus:
As I hear the people singing out his name,
I know it's Christmas time again,
where we laugh and we love
while he rides above -
oh, the joy of Christmas day.
Verse 2:
Father Christmas has their trust,
in presents for girls and boys.
For grownups family time's a must,
and the children get the toys.
My heart is warmed by the fire's flames,
the children laugh with glee.
As they play with all their brand new games,
in perfect harmony.
Pre-chorus:
He comes down the chimney
in a red and white coat.
With all the presents he'll bring me,
it's Christmas day I love most.
Chorus:
As I hear the people singing out his name,
I know it's Christmas time again,
where we laugh and we love
while he rides above -
oh, the joy of Christmas day.
Middle 8
Pre-chorus:
He comes down the chimney

it's Christmas day I love most.
Chorus:
As I hear the people singing out his name,
I know it's Christmas time again,
where we laugh and we love
while he rides above -

Where we laugh and we love
while he rides above -
oh, the joy of Christmas day.
