We are the world’s largest charity dedicated to saving lives through research. Our vision is to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured. Cancer Research UK is a registered charity in England and Wales (1089464), Scotland (SC041666), the Isle of Man (1103) and Jersey (247).

Story

The initial reason for me taking part in Dryathlon comes from the simple fact that I drink too much. From a couple of glasses of beer to a night on the town, drinking plays an integral part in my social life so giving up alcohol in January will come as a BIG challenge.

While reducing my alcohol intake will obviously put me in good stead for a healthier lifestyle, especially following the festive season, the bigger picture of maintaining a level of sobriety in January surrounds the charity for whom I'm raising money for.

It is estimated that every two minutes someone is diagnosed with cancer however in 2006 it was my mother who was diagnosed and who later lost her battle against breast cancer. For this reason, cancer research is a charity that I hold close to my heart.

By donating as much or as little as possible not only are you assisting in raising money to fund necessary research but you are helping to motivate me in staying away from my tipple of choice, in turn raising awareness for cancer research.

Let's see how this goes...

Many thanks,

Joy x
