Story
We are raising money for the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Charity as it has, at some point during our lives, provided medical support to us or other members of our family.
We want to give something back and hopefully encourage others to do the same so that the NHS can keep providing the same level of care it has for us and our family.
John and I have had a few health issues over the last couple of years & we both got on a bike to try to get fitter and stronger both mentally and physically, no big distances but just to get out of the house & do something.
I'm not sure what prompted us but we wanted to take on a challenge that would help push us and inspire other people to see how much achieve no matter your size or age!
We chose to take on the Birmingham Velo which is a million miles out of our comfort zone & in truth a huge stretch for us both. Iron Man Dan is doing it with us, not only to help raise money for the charity but also because he wanted to give some much needed moral support & experience of riding the distance. He's a good chap!
How it got to the point of taking on a 100mile challenge we'll never know but we're in it to complete it & if along the way we can get some additional support in the way of sponsorship donations it would certainly give us that little bit more of an incentive to get up some of those big hills along the way!
Whilst Dan has done this distance before John and I have not even cycled a quarter of it as yet & so it still feels like achieving our goal is literally miles away but if we can do this whilst also raising funds for a fantastic cause then the 3 of us will be over the moon.
