Story
PACT has been running for many years and its main goal is to provide support for young patients of Sheffield Children's Hospital suffering from cancer and their families. When a child has cancer, the whole family suffers and PACT helps to alleviate this by providing support, counselling and short breaks during which the family can recuperate as a unit.
The hospital serves over 2 million people in South Yorkshire, Derbyshire, North Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire in its histology and oncology units and patients from further afield for transplants.
They are hoping to build a new oncology unit and PACT needs to raise 640,000 pounds to fit it out. Children spend unto 6 hours a day over many weeks hooked up to chemotherapy machines in a room without windows and very little to entertain them, this is just one of the things the new unit will correct.
Truly the new unit, with counselling rooms, a play area, will help reduce the risk of infection from other hospital patients, better proximity to wards, will dramatically improve the experience of families going through the darkest of times, please help and donate as much as you can.
