Story
In July of this year a group of us will be completing the 26 mile Thames Path Mighty Hike in Memory of Jo Hoare who sadly passed away shortly before Christmas.
I knew Jo for nearly 40 years and although we were no longer a couple we had remained good friends. We have 3 wonderful children of whom Jo was immensely proud (all of them will be completing the hike too) and last summer we celebrated the birth of our first Grandchild. Everyone was looking forward to the future when out of the blue we found that Jo had cancer. She fought it but sadly passed away in December 2021 a matter of weeks after being diagnosed. This disease has robbed Jo of the opportunity to see her granddaughter grow and robbed our children of their mother.
Cancer is a hateful disease that literally destroys lives. One day it will be beaten but in the meantime we need the resources of MacMillan and that is why we are completing this hike. Macmillan give people with cancer all the support they can. If you’re diagnosed with cancer, your worries are their worries. Macmillan are doing whatever it takes but without our help they can’t support everyone who needs them.
I know that times are hard and everything is getting more expensive but everyone that reads this will be affected by this disease one way or another so please, please contribute anything you can no matter how small.
