Story
Our story starts in May 2021. Sloane, an otherwise healthy, energetic 4 year old, came home from school feeling unwell. What we originally thought was a stomach virus, quickly turned our world upside down. We went from looking forward to the end of her first year of preschool, and a busy, fun summer, to finding ourself digging for answers. We would soon find out that Sloane had a form of vasculitis called Henoch-Schönlein Pupura. We were told this was not uncommon in the pediatric world, but the way her symptoms presented, and her severe reaction was cause for alarm. We found ourself calling Children’s Hospital of Michigan home for part of May and June, and once again at the end of August. During this time CHM has gone above and beyond to make this a positive experience for Sloane. Along with amazing care from her doctors and nurses, the child life specialists and Children’s Foundation have given so much to our family. We have created this fundraiser to give back to other families going through difficult days. We are hopeful the funds raised can go back to purchase toys, activities, and equipment to help make another family’s time in the hospital a positive experience. We hope you will join us in giving back to something that brought us so much peace during some of our most difficult days.
