Welcome to Jo & Siah's Balkan Trek Challenge Fundraising Page Extravaganza!

One of our favourite charities Link to Hope (www.linktohope.co.uk) is celebrating 31 years of rebuilding lives and communities in Eastern Europe. Many thousands of people have been impacted by their education and social care projects and we have decided to support their continued work by taking part in the Balkan Trek 11th - 18th June 2022.

Over the course of a week we are part of a small team trekking nearly 100km across the Accursed Mountains - where Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo meet. It's our biggest physical challenge yet! We are paying our own way out there, which means that 100% of what we raise will go straight to Link to Hope's educational and social projects.

One key project we will be raising money for is the 'I AM' project. Many people in Eastern Europe have no identity papers, for a number of different reasons. This means that children can't access education, old people can't qualify for a pension and family can't get any financial help for basic necessities. They are the forgotten people and have no way of changing their circumstances. We are aiming to help as many people as possible obtain birth certificates and identity papers in order to change their lives and become a person who is recognised rather than continue to be invisible. Times are tough - so whatever you can spare is gratefully received. We are so glad to have the chance to participate in raising funds and awareness for the good work Link to Hope is doing among Europe's neediest communities.
