Story
Hi everyone, thank you so much for taking the time to visit my page.
So what possessed me to even contemplate running a marathon? Well it all started one boozy night down the Six Bells pub. While chatting to a certain Brendan O'Connor he mentioned the marathon he had run for charity. Now the drink having got the better of me at this point, I volunteered that that I would like to do the same!
Now even in my younger, fitter days, I never claimed to be any sort of distance runner and the decade of Ales and Whiskys since has left me with a figure far from that of a racing snake!
However I am determined to put my body through the rigours of months of training during dark cold winter nights, not to mention dragging it across London for 26 miles, even give up alcohol (for the duration of the race) all in aid of raising money for Farleigh Hospice.
I have spent more than my fair share of time in hospitals and hospices in recent years and have had to watch people I love and care for suffering with nothing I could do to help. I have been amazed by the relentless hard work and care given by the staff I have met, not only for the patients themselves, but also for family and friends. And I have been especially touched by those working in hospices giving support to not only patients physical symptoms but also the social, emotional and spiritual needs of the patients and their loved ones at the most difficult times.
I want this to be my small way of helping and I hope you will join me in supporting the cause by donating generously.
My thanks once again, Josh.
