Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I'm Josh, you may know me as someone who has hair. I'm going to shave it all off for Tree Aid and Black Lives Matter. Tree Aid is a brilliant environmental and humanitarian charity that plants trees to promote biodiversity and fertile soils, as well as providing income and food security for families in poverty. If you know me, you'll know that sustainability is an issue close to my heart so if you donate thanks so much.

I originally planned on doing this just for Tree Aid, but given the current situation in America, I felt it's only right to do something for Black Lives Matter too. I've read a lot about what it means to be an ally recently, and I've realised that I need to do more. Black Lives Matter is a movement I believe in, but I certainly don't do enough to be a good ally. That's why I've decided to match the donations made to Tree Aid, and donate the same amount to various organisations fighting racism out of my own money. I know that being an ally does not just mean giving money to a cause, so I'll continue to learn and act after the donations have been made. I encourage you to look inward and figure out what more you can do to help as well.

On top of this, my employer is going to match donations made to help in the fight against racism too. That means if you donate £5, it'll be matched twice to become £15!!

The matched money will be donated to these organisations:

NAACP Legal Defence and Educational Fund -
American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Foundation - America’s premier legal organisation fighting for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education
The Bail Project - A non-profit organisation designed to combat mass incarceration by disrupting the money bail system ‒ one person at a time.
Equal Justice Initiative - A private, nonprofit organisation that provides legal representation to people who have been illegally convicted, unfairly sentenced, or abused in state jails and prisons
American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) Foundation - Who have been working for nearly a century, to end mass incarceration, excessive punishment, and racial inequality.

If you donate, thanks so much. You're helping to tackle some really important issues which is amazing! Also, you'll get to see what I look like bald.
