Story
Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues,
Thank you for visiting our Project South Africa 2008 fundraising page.
In November of this year we are off to help renovate a remote school (Noordhoek Primary) in South Africa with the Bobby Moore Fund, based in the UK.
We are also coordinating the round-up and shipping of 250 pair of shoes for the children (ages 6-14) of the school that we are renovating. This is a direct service effort for which we will see immediate benefits and results of the school renovation and in providing shoes for the children.
The majority of our costs are covered, however, we are fundraising to cover the shipping costs of the shoes and for additional proceeds to go to the Bobby Moore Fund to help tackle bowel cancer through world-class research. Bobby Moore was a world class British soccer player who died of bowel cancer at 51.
Many types of cancer are treatable if caught early enough. Research and access to treatment are essential to help all cancer patients and their families.
For further information on the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK, and to view what the International Projects archive, please click on the following link: http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/bobbymoorefund/getinvolved/events/projectsouthafrica/?version=1.
We understand the challenging economic times, however, please know that even $10, $20 helps, it all adds up. As of 10.07.08, the currency conversion rate is $1 U.S. dollar = .57 British pounds. So a $20 U.S. donation would be 11.5 pounds.
