Story
General fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies, and countless others that charities support.
Cardiff University is a world leader in cancer research and is currently in the process of attempting to deliver a universal therapy for cancer with their work on T-Cells*. A team of scientists at the uni who have been working on reprogramming viruses to fight cancer has switched to focusing their efforts on finding a vaccine for coronavirus**. They do fantastic work there and deserve all the support they can get!
I usually run the Cardiff Half Marathon each year to raise money for this cause, but with no certainty that it will take place, I have decided to challenge myself to run 200km over 26 days in May, finishing with a half marathon on the 31st (all social distancing rules followed of course!). If you could spare a little change, or even just share this page, I will be forever grateful!
Thanks for taking the time to view my page!
