Frome 5km in my wheelchair raising money for the Recreational Fund
Fundraising for Salisbury District Hospital Stars Appeal
Fundraising for Salisbury District Hospital Stars Appeal
Hi everyone,
My names Josh, and as you may know, I had a severe accident in June 2018, diving into shallow water, causing a compression fracture in my neck at C6/C7 and severing my spinal cord. This has left me paralysed from my chest to my toes, with a complete spinal cord injury.
After being admitted to Salisbury Spinal Treatment Centre it didn’t take me long to meet Sonya and Jo, the 2 recreational ladies that work for The Stars Appeal Charity, who take patients out on day trips to see the outside world and to give them some freedom since they were admitted (which is massively needed, trust me). In my time at the unit, I have been lucky enough to watch Southampton (try to) play football twice, go to Twickenham to watch England hammer France in the Six Nations, the Hawk Conservancy and Haynes Motor museum. They don’t only do day trips, they also have BBQ’s, Hog Roasts, cream teas, ploughman’s lunches and bacon rolls on the ward every 2 weeks for us patients, YUM!!!
So, now that I’ve got myself into a position where my body isn’t as strong as it once was, nor does it physically work like it used to, I want to show everyone that I still have the strength upstairs to challenge myself physically. With that being said I have now decided it’s my time to give something back to these guys for everything they have done for me. I’m starting off with a small challenge, my local 5km. To some people that might not seem a lot, but for me it seems like a huge task and I have absolutely no idea if I will be able to complete it, but I shall give it my all for as long as I can!
I’ve set up this page to see how much I can raise for The Stars Appeal - Recreational Fund so they can carry on doing the great job they do. I would appreciate it massively if you could help me along the way and donate some money, no matter how big or small, every little helps.
THANK YOU!
