Story

From the 26th December 2015 - 4th January 2016 i will be undertaking Africa's Highest Mountain, Kilimanjaro! at nearly 20,000 ft, the body has only 50% of the oxygen compared with at sea level! The plan is to reach the summit of Kili and plant a small flag/banner of Huw on New Years Eve!

Continuing on from the National 3 peaks that 22 of us undertook earlier this summer for Huws Trust, i aim to extend the drive and passion we all had on those mountains and undertake my biggest challenge yet! After completing 3 peaks, Nick showed me the last Honley-Hepworth Sunday league football pictures that were taken that day. (if im not mistaken i think the picture above is from that game) anyway, this had me thinking that theirs more we can do to help the trust. and so after a months planning i will be hopefully completing Kili's 3000m face, and im more than ever determined to make sure huws banner (the one that finished every mountain in the 3 peaks) is also there with me at the top!

I also know alot of people have given there time and money to this great cause this year, in particular with the 3 peaks and more recently Ryan Blezard's great feat of Manchester Survival Run! so i dont want to pressure any one into giving more! but by any means please share this post as every little bit really does make a huge difference in someones elses life!

* i will be sure to add photos from the climb when/if i get wifi in Tanzania!

The Huw Thatcher Trust supports a national charity for brain injured people called the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust (BIRT).  BIRT is a Division of a larger registered charity called theDisabilitiest Trust.

BIRT helps people regain the skills lost as a result of brain injury – whether caused by medical reasons, road accident, assault, or some other form of injury such as from the armed forces.
