Story
Hello! I'm Josh and I've just turned 9 years old.
I've heard stories recently about people doing slightly crazy things - climbing mountains on their staircases, cycling for miles in their garages and even Captain Tom Moore doing laps in his garden in order to raise money for the NHS! After my parents told me about Tom, I couldn't wait to do something crazy myself; I thought about running (and rowing) to Paris - and then climbing the Eiffel Tower once I got there. NOW I'VE COMPLETED IT, I'VE STARTED TO CYCLE BACK HOME FROM PARIS AS MY FRENCH WASN'T VERY GOOD! 😂 My teachers would tell you how much I love geography, but I haven't been to Paris yet even though it's only 341km from London. How difficult could it be to run (and row) from Big Ben to the Eiffel Tower in my back garden (well, as long as my dog Sooty doesn't get under my feet)?!
My plan is to complete 6 kilometres a day until I 'arrive' (my mum promises she'll have some baguette ready). I started on April 16th and have done lots (and lots) of circles in my garden with my sister keeping count of my dizzy laps - from the comfort of her hammock (I think teenagers are a bit lazy)! Over the next 8 weeks I hope to give you daily updates of my progress. I think I can do this. I'm even hopeful I may finish ahead of schedule....
I FINISHED 2 DAYS AGO AND CELEBRATED WITH MY FRIENDS VIA ZOOM. BUT THEN I HAD THE IDEA TO CYCLE BACK, SO I'M SETTING MYSELF THE 2-WEEK CHALLENGE TO GET BACK HOME🚴.
I look forward to every penny you are happy to donate to the NHS - or even just loud cheers of encouragement you may give me from somewhere outside of my garden in Kent!
Thank you for reading this!
Josh, age 9
