Story
In October 2022, my dad was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and it was a huge shock to our close-knit family.
Myeloma UK supports those with the disease, as well as those surrounding them. Their impact is huge and the information on their website has been a great help!
I’d never heard of Multiple Myeloma before my dad’s diagnosis, and in those days between finding out what it ‘could be’ to getting the full story I found myself trawling through Myeloma UK’s website. Both to understand the disease, but also to learn what support is out there for my dad and our whole family and friends. The information and support available have been immensely helpful as I processed the change in our lives, and the personal stories of those who have ran the marathon were really inspiring.
By running the marathon for Myeloma UK, and raising money for such an amazing cause, I hope to support the work they’re doing to raise awareness of the disease, as well as fund the incredible research being done to better understand the disease.
I couldn’t think of a better charity to raise money for and run in aid of. Whether its direct or indirect, the impact they’re having on my dad’s condition and the way I’m able to cope with the change has been immense. This time last year I didn’t even know what Myeloma was, and now I couldn’t think of a better charity to run for.
