We offer expert care, guidance and support to people living with a terminal illness

Story

My Dad Shaun & all round good guy Joe McGuigan are taking the massive trip across to the far East to take part in the Vietnam to Cambodia Cycle in aid of Marie Curie Charity.

The lads love cycling granted, but with the climate, distance, varying terrains and gradients it’s set to be a bit of a challenge and surely one that’ll be spoken about for years to come.

This remarkable challenge takes Shaun, Joe and a good bunch of other enthusiasts sharing the same goal from the colourful city of Ho Chi Minh in Southern Vietnam to historic Angkor Wat in Cambodia, focussing on the incredible Mekong and taking us through Phnom Penh and across Tonle Sap lake before finally arriving at the magnificient temple of Angkor Wat.

The challange will cover a total of 534km over 8 days which averages out to over 65km per day or 41 miles. This is equivalent to the distance you would travel between Falkirk & Perth, imagine that on your bike every day in the far East Humidity after 1 or 10 pints of vietnams most popular Saigon Lager?

The team are raising funds for a great cause which is Marie Curie. Marie Curie provide vital support to our loved ones and their families while living with a terminal illness through to end of life and beyond. Raising money for this great cause can help in many ways for example:

£180.00 pays for someone living with a terminal illness to attend day therapy at their local hospice

£400.00 pays for someone to stay in a Marie Curie hospice for 24 hours, so that they can receive the hands on care they need in their final days

£1,250.90 pays for a portable oxygen system that will relieve distressing symptoms so a person doesn’t have to be confined to a bed, maintains an element of independence

In addition to this fundraiser our bar The Auld Vic is hosting a series of events in aid of raising funds for the much needed support of this charity, head over to their page on here and see what’s on!

The guys are putting in a first class effort here for Marie Curie while doing something they love, let’s help them make it worth it no matter how big or small all donations will go toward a great cause.

Ps - they arrive back in the country around the 22nd/23rd of October 2023, why not catch up with them in the bar and here about how it all went?

Thanks for taking the time to read, good luck lads 🍀🍀🚴 🚴✈️ 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🇻🇳 🇰🇭 ☀️
