Story
On 12th August 2021, our good friend Joshua Lomas’ life was cut tragically short. Josh was a genuine and kind-hearted individual with an incredible sense of humour. His intelligence was second to none, from his schooling to university it was clear that he was going places. He picked up languages so quickly, it was as though he had the lyrics of a song stuck in his head! Those who were fortunate enough to call him a friend, and spent the past five years going to university and on the year abroad in Jordan with him, are so lucky to have shared so many amazing memories with him.
Unfortunately, Josh had type one diabetes, which he learnt to live with. He was incredibly active, regularly playing tennis and being the skinniest bugger around! Sadly, this disease took Josh away from us far too early, at the age of 23. No words can describe the shock of this news, even so many months on. But it is important to know who the enemy is, which is this abhorrent disease, and it is this disease which we must fight, so that this does not happen to others who suffer from diabetes.
For this exact reason, Callum Darragh and Yasmin Ziyada, will be running the Rhein-Ruhr Marathon Duisburg on 12th June 2022 to raise money for the charity Diabetes UK. If you are able to spare any money for donations, great or small, it is one step further for the necessary research to beat this disease once and for all!
