Story
Working so closely with the hospital the charity team have a huge insight in to how important raising funds are and that's why I am getting involved!
I will be taking on The Christie challenge with my sporting team colleagues, and my major relations team colleagues, in the hope to raise some vital funds for The Christie.
The average cancer patient is travelling 60 miles a day for their treatment and this can be for 5 days a week for 4-6 weeks at a time. This past year my mum went through cancer treatment, and the travel and time that the radiotherapy treatment took was one of the most frustrating parts for her.
So I have decided that for my part of the major relations team fundraising, I will run that same distance. I will be running Monday to Friday, for 4 weeks, running a total of 60 miles. This will be an average of 15 miles a week, about 3 miles a day.
I am not a runner, so this won't be fun, and only after submitting my suggestion did I realise how far this would be. So please take pity on me and give what you can for this amazing cause!
Also, as part of the sporting team fundraising, I'll be doing a 300ft bungee jump at Tatton park. That is about the same as jumping off the statue of liberty. There is no connection between cancer treatment and falling 300ft, but it is bloody scary, so that probably deserves a donation too!
The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds for more than 60,000 cancer patients treated at The Christie every year. Your support can help us to fund life-changing and potentially life-saving projects that will benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.
