We educate, teach CPR and supply AEDs to prevent sudden cardiac death.

Story

I am doing the Great West Run in hope of raising some money for Jay's AIM, which is a local charity that means a lot to me and many of my colleagues and was set up following death of a friend and colleague of mine, James(Jay).

Jay was a brother, son, friend, fiancé and a father who died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of just 28. After his death, it was learnt that Jay had an undiagnosed inherited heart condition, and that this had caused a fatal cardiac arrest. James worked with us at Brewin Dolphin for a number of years and we all miss him dearly.

Jay's AIM was established by James' family in 2018 with the target of reducing the rate of sudden cardiac death among young people here in the South-West England. The British Heart Foundation estimates that 12 people below the age of 35 die every week in the UK from undiagnosed heart conditions, many of them with no prior symptoms. Since 2018 Jay's AIM have been on a mission to reduce this number; with the help of generous supporters, they're making a big difference.
