Story
Hello!
Having recently ran my first 5 km race I thought "wouldn't it be a great idea to follow that up by running my first ever marathon..." and in order to ensure that my poor decision making and suffering don't go to waste I'd like to help raise some money for cancer research.
I'll be running the Berlin Marathon on 28th September to raise money for The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR). I worked as a research scientist at the ICR for several years and so I know first hand of the incredible work they do - literally making the discoveries that save lives.
The ICR is ranked as the UK’s leading academic research centre, and leads the world at isolating cancer-related genes and discovering new targeted cancer drugs. The ICR’s unique partnership with The Royal Marsden Hospital and ‘bench-to-bedside’ approach allows them to create and deliver results in a way that other institutions cannot. Together the two organisations are rated in the top four cancer centres globally.
I live in Berlin now (which should make it easy to get to the Marathon on the day!) and I still work in cancer research, albeit for a different organisation. However, such was my experience at the ICR that I know, should you choose to sponsor me, your money will be put to the best possible use - making real progress in the fight against cancer.
Please help me to support the amazing work they do.
Thank you.
