Hello everyone,

As I am a very lucky boy with lots of lovely things and you all bought me gifts when I was born, I would really like it if you would take the money you might have spent on a Christening gift for me and donate it to Francis House through my Just Giving page.

Francis House offers a loving home from home for terminally ill children and much needed respite for their families when they need it most. Their philosophy flows from the belief in the sanctity of life and the dignity of the person. They provide;

• Skilled nursing care for children in a homely, happy and secure place.
• An essential break for parents and for the rest of the family
• Friendship, encouragement and relief enabling the whole family to return home refreshed
• A flexible service to meet the needs of the family, including home support and bereavement care
• A lifeline by just being available day or night

 

Each year Francis House cares for over 150 children and their families. To provide all this costs a lot of money, and the charity is funded almost entirely by voluntary donations.

There is no charge to families for this service. We constantly seek funding from the various Health Authorities in whose areas the children live. A few respond by making an annual grant but the total amount we receive from 5 different Health Authorities would keep Francis house open for about 2 weeks of the year! We rely almost totally on the generosity and commitment of the general public, Trusts and businesses and wish to pay them a huge tribute for their generosity and willingness to be partners with the parents and Francis House in the care of the seriously sick children in our community.
