Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
A good friend of mine and a former work colleague developed
a condition, several years ago, called ulcerative colitis. For several months before he was diagnosed with this disease and for a few years afterwards I worked with him on a daily basis and I could see at first hand the dreadful affect it can have on somebody. I am told that approximately 400,000 people in this country are diagnosed with this condition or Crohn’s disease and that the likely number of sufferers in this country is probably nearer 1 million and, at present, there is no cure!!! My friend, with the help of some serious medication, lives a near normal life apart from chronic abdominal pain and never
having to be far from a toilet.
Other sufferers are “not so lucky” having to undergo very serious surgery. Two years ago some of my running friends and I raised nearly £1000 for Crohn’s & Colitis UK Charity (Northamptonshire Network) by taking part in several full and half marathons up and down the country. This charity seeks to raise awareness of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and awards large sums of money for research into medication to control IBD and hopefully one day a cure. I have been lucky enough to secure a place in the London Marathon (Sunday, 28th April 2019) with this charity and I am seeking help to raise £2500. Your donations will help enormously and I thank you for your support.
