Story
In September last year we noticed that our little baby Theo wasn't really engaging visually with the world around him, and so we took him to the doctors to see if there was a problem. We then discovered that Theo had congenital cataracts in both eyes and that they needed to be removed with some urgency.
Theo had his first surgery at 7 months old where the surgeons removed his faulty lenses and replaced them with artificial ones and a few weeks later he got his first pair of glasses - to watch his little face light up when he could see clearly for the first time was very special.
We've a way to go with Theo's vision, with another surgery scheduled for this year, but he's doing really well - and it's all thanks to the amazing team in Leeds.
All his treatment and surgery has been with St James (Jimmy's) and LGI in Leeds, so I'm riding the UCI World Championships Long route sportive to raise money for Leeds Cares, a charity who supports the amazing work of Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
