Story
On the 14th of May 2023 I will be running the Leeds Marathon for the Leeds Hospitals Charity alongside my good friend Desmond Mc Sweeney. I will be helping - alongside many others - to support Rob Burrows appeal for a MND (Motor Neurone Disease) Care Centre in Leeds, to give people living with MND the best quality of life.
When I first heard about Rob Burrow being diagnosed with MND, I was completely shocked and upset.
In 2013/2014 I was selected to be part of the Leeds Rhinos Scholarship team. I was awarded my kit from Rob and JJB, which was one of my proudest moments with me being a huge Leeds rhinos fan. Unfortunately at the start of the season, I picked up a bad injury and had a knee reconstruction. Throughout my recovery Rob Burrow was very supportive and was very motivational.
I always thought Rob Burrow was a special player and saw him as a role model, because he always gave 100% on and off the field. This has reflected through what he has done for the MND community. I feel the MND community has a huge significance within the whole of the rugby community.
Rob Burrow and Kevin Sinfield have definitely motivated me to challenge myself. Therefore, this is why I have decided to take part in the Leeds marathon to challenge myself and to do my bit to help Rob and the MND community.
So I have set up this page, not just to donate, but to track my progress and keep everyone updated. I will be still playing rugby union, which I hope will help me further develop my marathon training.
