The Jordan Girls and friends are taking on The National Three Peaks. This challenge consists of 26 miles hiking, over the 3 highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales, with the aim of completing them within 24 hours!
Jemima, Annabelle, Katie and a few of the girls’ friends have decided to take on this challenge for Dream Beams and in aid of Visyon. Visyon is a charity which helps children and young people, aged 11-25, and their families, in the East Cheshire area with their emotional health and wellbeing.
Since the start of the Covid epidemic, the number of children and young people struggling with their mental health has risen dramatically.
Jemima, Annabelle and their friends who are undertaking this challenge have all seen some of their peers mental health struggles and understand the seriousness that if these young people’s mental health needs are left unaddressed, they can have life changing affects on their whole futures. However, with the right help and potential early attention from charities such as Visyon, these struggles can be eased and good outcomes can mean these children are then able to flourish. Visyon offers counselling, therapeutic play, creative workshops, family support and mentoring.
This is why we, as team of young individuals, are taking on this huge challenge to help make a difference to young people’s lives for the future.
We would be so appreciative if you could help by sponsoring us, no matter how much, we know that every penny given will go to helping more young children succeed in their bright young futures and we thank you in advance for all your encouraging words and sponsorship. It will all help give us more energy to keep climbing to help make a difference!
Our story….
Dream Beams was founded in Barbados in 2016 by Jemima and Annabelle Jordan, aged 10 and 8 years old. They wanted to earn enough money by selling things such as baked goods to buy all the children at the Nightengale Children’s Home in Barbados a Christmas present each. At that time that was 65 children, so yes there was a huge amount of baking and setting up stalls outside the super centre/Massey store a few times in Holetown, the farmers market on Holders Hill and the Providence Christmas Fair. The goal was met and Jemima and Annabelle hand delivered each gift to each child and enjoyed singing carols with them with Jemima on the guitar.
Since then Dream Beams was formerly registered as a charity in England in 2019 and held its inaugural Dream Beams Ball raising over £100,000 where every penny of this went to the East Cheshire Hospice. Then covid hit but not to get too down we took on the Cheshire Three Peaks in aid of Visyon in Congleton Cheshire raising over £6000,with a small team of only 6 hikers, gosh remembering the time we were only allowed to walk in groups of 6 due to covid!!
Our mission…
The Dream Beams team are always setting high goals to try and help as many children as possible by raising essential funds to support local causes which help children to reach their potential emotionally and physically. "If we all do a little bit, it adds up to a lot." Annabelle Jordan one of the founders of Dream Beams Charity. Our belief is that together we can make a big difference to young peoples lives.
