For the past 12 years, Marie has selflessly battled three different types of cancers and I was fortunate enough to be around for those remaining ten years.

Marrying Danielle I feel extremely privileged to have been welcomed so lovingly and made to feel like one of the family. Marie was like a Mum to me and always treated me like one of her own. I fondly remember all the travelling and holidays we had together and how welcomed we were to stay at Marie and Geoff's home no matter for a week or a year... children and all!

She was so brave and never gave up her tireless battle, despite the knockbacks and ongoing treatments. Marie was so selfless and giving, always thinking of others and never feeling worthy of people's generosity and help. 

I would like to raise money for one of the charities that have continued to help and support Marie and all the family over the years. 

As some of you may know I am no stranger to endurance events and I sought to find something that would truly challenge me. Over the next 6 months, I will attempt to complete 3 Ultramarathons known as the trail monkey Grandslam comprising of;

The Double Top: a 40-mile trail run along the north coast of Jersey and back with over 7,500ft of elevation, 1st May 2021.

Round the Rock: a 48-mile run on a mixture of trails and roads around the island of Jersey, 7th August 2021.

The CI 100k: a 100km run (62 miles) through the night along the north and west coast of Jersey and back with a challenging cut off time of 14 hours and over 9,000ft of elevation, 26th November 2021.

To complete one of these runs would be challenge enough but I hope the courage and grace that Marie has shown over the years I have known her will inspire me to dig deep and find the resolve to endure these three events.
