Story

Anyone who decides to run a marathon has normally two significant features about them.

1. They have some sort of screw loose to not only want to run 26.2 miles, but to do four months of quite intense training!

2. They want to raise money so that in running 26.2  miles, the effort can actually have a lasting impact on the lives of others.

I fit into both of these categories! Right now my body is aching because the miles I am running in training is increasing by 10% each week. However, I am hoping that my efforts will be worth it as I want to raise a sum of £5000 towards the Southwark Salvation Army Community Church. The church that I run (along with my wife) is currently running a very busy community program, that helps many dissadvantaged and marginalised people from within our local community. We currently run several dropins, which give people who are hungry food and also a place where they can find encouragement and friendship. We also run a busy and growing youth program, which aims to help the youth of the local community by providing them with youth clubs, dance classes and much much more.

All of this is a fantastic expression of Gods love, and we have been really blessed to see how peoples lives have been changed over the past years. However, we are also aware that there is a financial cost involved with running our busy program, which is why I am running this years marathon.

Every penny that I collect will go towards our community program, and I know from my own experience that this will help to change the lives of people in a very possitive way.

Today, you can play your part in the Southwark Salvation Army community church's mission by sponsoring me in this years marathon. Together, we can change peoples lives for the better!
