Story
When I heard that Powerstar were to take part in the Master Cutler's Challenge 2022, raising money for Cavendish Cancer Care it struck a chord with me. As with most people, I have have lost friends and family to Cancer and have seen other friends and family deal with the physical and mental strains of living with this horrible disease. Cavendish Cancer Care provide fantastic support that we would all be relieved was available if we were in need.
As a keen cyclist I have cycled to work in previous jobs, but this time it is a bit more of a challenge! Powerstar is on Sheffield and I live in Loughborough! By car it is 62 miles door to door but avoiding busy roads and city centres it will be well over 70 miles by bike!
My intention is to ride it both ways, probably either side of a weekend, so that I can claim it as a proper commute. I just need to wait for the weather to cool down a bit and to sort out the route, so it is scheduled for early September.
If you can please donate, it will be what spurs me on when my motivation is flagging as I mingle with the commuter traffic early on a September morning!
Cavendish Cancer Care is a local charity based in Sheffield who support not just patients, but anyone affected by cancer. At their launch event, we received £50 to grow as much as possible in just 27 weeks. Our team have plans for our fundraising and this page will be used to collect donations and sponsorship to help support us."We all know that the impact of a diagnosis ripples through family, friends and colleagues. To have a charity providing a lifeline to all those who turn to them is a true asset in our region" - James Tear, Master Cutler Thank you so much for supporting us with our challenge, and in turn helping local families who turn to Cavendish Cancer Care.
