Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My name's Jon, I'm 39 years old and from Barry in South Wales.
Back in 2004 my Grandmother, Alice Harfoot came to live with me and my family for the last 3 years of her life. The reason for this was her decline in health due to Alzheimer's disease.
From 2004 to 2007 we watched and supported my Grandmother as the illness took away her memories, her personality, her independence and her sense of self until she was unable to function as a cognitive person.
It was a tragic end to a life due to an illness that currently has a 0% survival rate. The only way to improve these odds is to research the illness. Without research there will be no progress, no halting of the disease, no reversal of the disease and no cure of the disease. The chances of survival will remain 0.
This year I will be running Swansea Half Marathon in June, Severn Bridge Half Marathon in August and doing Mumbles middle distance (half ironman distance) Triathlon in September. Normally I'd like to do more but as a new parent, time is somewhat limited!!!!!
Please find the time to sponsor me, no amount is too little, as I attempt to raise as much money as possible to support this invaluable research.
